1. Lord of Glory Food Pantry

The Lord of Glory Food Pantry in Grayslake, Illinois is happy to help those in their community who are experiencing food poverty. Established by congregation members of the Lord of Glory Lutheran Church, the pantry is open two days per week and allows recipients to enter and shop for the items they prefer from among the available donations. Non-perishables are packaged and handed out in the parking lot one additional day of the week and volunteers periodically hand out food care packages to the homeless in the community.

2. The UMMA Center

The Urban Muslim Minority Alliance (UMMA) has been helping those in their community meet their food needs for nearly two decades. UMMA was established by like-minded volunteers and businesses to help refugees settle into the Waukegan, Illinois area, but they are available to assist anyone in need. One day each week, they distribute bags filled with non-perishable food items and toiletries to those who register with them. They also offer limited delivery to those who are unable to make it to the UMMA center.

3. SVDPLZ Food Pantry

The food pantry of St. Vincent De Paul in Lake Zurich, Illinois (SVDPLZ) is stocked to assist the residents of Lake County, Illinois with supplemental nutritious food items one day each week. This Catholic charity was established in Paris, France in 1833 and began local operations at the Ministry Center of St. Francis De Sales in 1972. Recipients can visit once every week to receive a variety of items designed to accommodate a good portion of their daily meals.

St. James Parish Church was built in 1912 to house the existing ministry formed by Reverend James D. O’Neill in 1906. Members of the congregation and volunteers joined forces to feed the hungry in their community and have been doing just that for more than 90 years. The food pantry is open one day per week to dole out canned foods and dry goods to area residents.

Barrington Township Food Pantry is open four days per week to provide much-needed food items to members of the Barrington, Illinois community. Volunteers at this food center work hard to provide a mix of canned meats, vegetables and fruits, dry goods, dairy, frozen food, and even gift cards to supermarkets, restaurants, and other food retailers, when available. Shoppers are given a choice from among what is contained on the pantry shelves. Community meals are held weekly at various locations.

Volunteers and community members of the Lake Villa Township have been looking after their fellow citizens since the town was formed in 1913. Working together with local churches and businesses, they created the Lake Villa Township Food Pantry to provide those experiencing food insecurity with emergency food packages to get them through the tough times. They also provide holiday food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
